As of Tuesday, January 19, 2021 the Governor’s Tier Two Mitigation Plan became effective for our area. Regular operations and programs are affected and subject to change at any time. The Elk Grove Park District continues to follow the recommendations from the Governor’s office, The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) as it pertains to public parks and recreation activities and facilities. Updates and information will be shared on our Status Updates page, E-News and Elk Grove Park District Facebook page as it becomes available.
Morton & Olmsted Park - Our Parks crew is working on clearing weed trees and brush along the creek as part of an inhouse restoration project. Included in the work is a "stack and burn" of wood material as a part of the cleanup. The work will be ongoing throughout the winter.
A beginning level jazz and hip hop class for students ages 6-9 (level 1) and 7-10 (level 2), respectively. Students will develop basic technique in both dance forms through a progressive 2-year curriculum.
A classical dance form of dance focusing on proper body alignment and fluid movement. Barre, center floor and across the floor progressive movements are all used to develop proper technique. Ballet is the foundation upon which most dance forms are based. Pre-Pointe supplements the training of junior and teen level dancers by incorporating exercises to strengthen one's core, ankles and feet.
Set to upbeat, popular music, this class combines stylized movement with technique. Jazz dance is based on ballet principles. Each class consists of warm-up using isolated movements, across the floor progressions, and current choreography.
This popular, energetic form of dance allows dancers to perform with freedom of movement, adding in their own personalities. This class is inspired by today's latest music and hippest trends in dance. Age appropriate Hip Hop music and movement is used for each class.
An expressive form of dance that incorporates a fusion of many dance styles. Many times this style tells a story through choreography and dance phrases. Dancers are also encouraged to explore their emotions and movement through improvisation. A strong ballet and jazz foundation enhances the quality of movement.
A style of dance using special shoes to create different rhythms and sounds. Tap is great for developing musicality and coordination skills.
Dancers will learn to execute a variety of acrobatic tricks and incorporate them into dance combinations. This is a great cross training class for dancers as well as cheerleaders and gymnasts looking to enhance their dance technique while maintaining their acrobatic skills.
This class is beneficial for the dancer that would like to learn and practice the many leaps and turns of dance. Helpful for both the classical or pom and dance team dancer looking to finally nail those challenging leaps and turns. Come to this upbeat class in jazz dance attire and ready to have fun!
