As of Friday, November 20, 2020 the Governor’s Tier Three Mitigation Plan becomes effective. The plan will affect our operations and programs and is subject to change at any time. We continue to follow the recommendations from the Governor’s office, The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) as it pertains to public parks and recreation activities and facilities. Updates and information will be shared on our Status Updates page, E-News and Elk Grove Park District Facebook page as it becomes available.

Volunteers Welcome

Putting on a theatre show is a big deal! We welcome extra sets of hands and talents ages 10 and older who are interested in helping out in all sorts of theatre functions that include: costuming, set building, props, stage hands, guest seating and more! Musical Theatre

The theatre program at the Elk Grove Park District is best known for its annual winter production. Shows take place every March and are comprised of children 7 - 18 years old. Every production is staffed by professionals from the theatre world who bring a wealth of knowledge and energy to each show. Past shows include Aladdin Jr., Seussical Jr., Willy Wonka Jr., Alice in Wonderland Jr., High School Musical Jr., The Little Mermaid Jr., Annie Jr., Into the Woods Jr., Beauty & the Beast Jr., The Lion King Jr., Shrek the Musical and Peter Pan Jr.

Auditions and Rehearsals

Spotlight Theatre of the Elk Grove Park District holds musical theatre auditions open to ages 7 through 18. No prior experience is necessary, just a love to perform! Participants should be prepared to sing, dance, read and have a great experience with other performers on the stage.

Please register online or at the Pavilion Customer Service counter for a one-hour audition time slot. Audition music will be emailed Friday, January 3rd (or sooner if requested) prior to auditions if participants would like to rehearse.

Ashley Pratscher

Arts/Special Events Manager

Ashley has worked in multiple positions at the Elk Grove Park District and most recently as the Arts/Special Events Manager. Ashley has previously produced Annie Jr., Mulan Jr. and Aladdin Jr. with the Elk Grove Park District's Theatre Camp and Peter Pan Jr. with the Winter Theatre Program. Ashley is very excited for another fun filled winer of Theatre!

Jacque Lueken

Theatre Director

Jacque Lueken is ecstatic to be a part of the Elk Grove Park District Art Centre staff! She received her BFA in Acting from Syracuse University and, upon graduation, moved to Chicago to work with Steppenwolf Theatre Co. as the Assistant Coordinator for their summer acting intensive, The School at Steppenwolf. Since moving to Chicago, Jacque has directed and taught with numerous companies including CCPA at Roosevelt University, American Theatre Company and After School Matters. Jacque served as a Mentor with Redmoon Theatre Company's Dramagirls Program, is a founding Collective Member of Ag47, the Anchor Artist for Teaching Lab Collaborations at The University of Chicago, and has spent the past three summers directing 15 productions at Long Lake Camp for the Arts (Spamalot, The Crucible and The Little Mermaid are just a few of her camp favs!).

Erin Thomas Lobo

Music Director

Erin Thomas Lobo loves teaching music for the Elk Grove Park District! She has music directed for the Park District's productions of Willy Wonka Jr., Alice in Wonderland Jr., High School Musical Jr., The Little Mermaid Jr., Annie Jr., Into the Woods Jr., Beauty & the Beast Jr., and The Lion King Jr. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Opera Performance from DePaul University and has since performed in Chicago with Light Opera Works, Lifeline Theatre, The Savoyaires, Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company, and Emerald City Children's Theatre. She also performed as a Singing Gondolier at Tokyo Disneyland Resort. This past year she joined The Allegrezza Singers, which is a choir in Lincoln Park that celebrates diversity.

Amy Chavez

Dance Director

Amy is thrilled to be a part of the Elk Grove Park District's Theatre Program. Amy has been with the District for 15 years. Amy graduated from Millikin Univeristy with a B.A. in Theatre. While directing the Elk Grove Park District's summer theatre camps and assisting with productions, Amy found her dream job teaching ballroom dance with Arthur Murray. She has been teaching and competing as a professional dancer for 9 years and manages the Oakbrook Studio.
