The Governor’s Phase 4 Mitigation Plan is in effect for our region. The rollout of in-person recreation continues as mitigation restrictions loosen. Regular operations and programs are affected by the mitigation process and subject are to change at any time. The Elk Grove Park District continues to follow the recommendations from the Governor’s office, The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) as it pertains to public parks and recreation activities and facilities. Announcements will also be made through our E-News and Elk Grove Park District Facebook page as it becomes available.
Protection measures continue regardless of vaccination status
People who are fully vaccinated still need to wear a face covering and maintain 6 feet of social distancing. Per both CDC guidance and Illinois law for public places. You must abide by face covering laws and social distancing guidelines of at least 6 feet between individuals that are not in the same household or group, even if the individuals meet the criteria demonstrated for immunity. Keep in mind that fully vaccinated individuals can still contract COVID-19, as well as carry and pass along the virus. Research is on-going regarding these points, but, for now, fully vaccinated individuals must continue to abide by all other COVID 19 mitigation measures when attending public programs and events and while using public spaces.
Patrons should wear face coverings while working out in a fitness center if they are a minimum of 6 feet apart. Patrons should wear face coverings at all times indoors, even while working out and while maintaining social distancing. People should also wear face coverings outdoors when they cannot maintain 6 feet of social distancing. Notably, the CDC and other agencies have reiterated that face coverings are safe for healthy individuals to wear while exercising.
Put recreation back on your schedule and register for any of these activities.
